Apple Nachos

Apple nachos make for the perfect snack. Crunchy, sweet and satisfying. The sliced apples offer healthy fibre and the almonds add protein and healthy fats. A touch of chocolate and toffee helps to satisfy those cravings in a snack that is beautiful and nutritious.

Variety Tip: *Empire, Gala and Red Prince apples all work well in this recipe

Ingredients

1 Ontario apple*, thinly sliced
1 tbsp almond butter, melted (15 mL)
1 tbsp dark chocolate chips, melted (15 mL)
1 tbsp crunchy toffee bites (15 mL)
2 tbsp almond flakes (30 mL)

Directions

Arrange apple slices on a plate. Microwave almond butter in a small bowl for 30 seconds and drizzle over the apple slices with a spoon.

 

In a small bowl, melt chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave stir chocolate chips well, especially in the centre of the bowl. Microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir melted chocolate and drizzle over the apple slices with a spoon.  Sprinkle apples with toffee bites and almond flakes. Enjoy!
